About me...
Hi everyone,
I am Kayleigh, a textile designer and illustrator based in Galashiels, Scottish Borders. Everything is designed and handmade in my home studio.
I studied Printed Textile design at Heriot Watt School of Textiles and Design. My main inspiration for my work has always been the surroundings around me from nature to architecture. I love the use of bright colours and bold patterns.
I started up KayleighRosePrints in 2020 during lockdown as I had recently left university.
I have created a curated my very own collection of designs and developed my own range of products from stationary and bookmarks to textile accessories.
I use a mix of digital and hand drawing techniques, as well as sublimation to print my fabrics and products. I have also taught myself to sew over the years of college and university and I now sew all my products in house.
I love taking part in local markets, getting to meet people and get ideas for new products.
In my final year of university my project was inspired by macro images of insects and botanical shapes. I used macro photography to create mark making and patterns from the details on the insects and scaled them up. I love layering techniques like screen print, digital print and embroidery. A lot of my inspiration is from details, textures and bright colours. A lot of my designs inspired my business logo, business cards and website design.
My most recent project was inspired by graffiti. I have always been inspired by random splats and shapes painted onto different textures. I have printed own designs onto fabric and made a range of accessories. I find the use of paints over rusty surfaces and layering different mediums very inspiring.
I work in many different mediums, from detailed digital drawings using an ipad, to abstract painting.
